While Farhan and Waqas Mehboob advanced in the Asian Squash Championship, the third of the Mehboob brothers, Waqar, was knocked out of the event underway in Penang, Malaysia.
Waqar, who was awarded a bye in the first round, lost his second-round match to local player Kamran Khan 11-7, 11-4, 11-4. However, seasoned player Farhan enjoyed easy sailing into the third round following a comfortable victory over Shinnosuke Tsuke of Japan. The third-seed won the match 11-3, 11-3, 11-4.
Meanwhile, Waqas, the youngest of the brothers, defeated Huang Cheng-Yao of Chinese Taipei 6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 in his first round and later overcame Korea’s Seung Taek Lee 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 on the same day to enter the third round.
