LAHORE: Setting aside the settlement between the government and Maulana Kahdim Rizvi settlements over recent Dharna episode, Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TYL) Patron In Chief Maulana Ashraf Asif Jalali announced they will continue their protest at Mall road.

“We have given three or four day time frame, then we will begin our sit-in around the country,” he threatened while addressing a press conference at Mall road on Tuesday. “In a second phrase we would start Jail Bharo Tehrik (go to jail movement) if our demands are not met.”

Earlier on Sunday, Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi had called off his countrywide protest when Law Minister Zahid Hamid had tendered his resignation before parliament.

Following his announcement, the activists of TYL endorsed his stance by shouting slogans of Labaik Ya Rasool Allah.

“However, let me clear that our protests will be peaceful and we would not damage any public property,” Jalali said. “If the law enforcers want to arrest me, I will present myself and none of my activists will show any anger to them.”

It was the first time that a conflict between the two factions of TYL came into limelight when Jalali said that TYL was registered by his name and not by Maulana Khadim Hussain Rizvi. “We just supported them as police started crackdown against them,” he said.

“They called off their protest by taking their own decision, while we continue our movement until real culprits behind the amendment to the bill are exposed,” he added.

He said that Sanaullah’s statement over qadiyani issue was against the constitution of Pakistan and the minimum punishment of this statement was to send him behind bars immediately.

“We just want the government to unfold the name of masterminds who hatched this conspiracy against the finality of prophethood clausel,” he said. “Only resignation of Zahid Hamid does not do the work.”

Giving reference to the report of Raja Zafar ul Haq, Jalali said that “why the government is not interested in making the report public as it will bring forward the names of characters involved in this conspiracy.”

He said that those who voted for the bill should be declared lifelong ineligible for politics and the masterminds of this conspiracy should be punished rigorously.

Presenting his further demands, Jalali said that government immediately registered the FIR against those who ordered crackdown against protestors in Faizabad and killed innocent people.

“During the protest, a large number of people were killed during the crackdown. However, the government is not confirming the death,” Jalali claimed. “Government should immediately confirm the death toll of protestors and hand over the dead bodies so that we could perform their funeral rituals.”

He said that according to our own records, at least 35 people died during the protest while hundreds got injured.
