Contempt notice issued to secretary education
Teacher says he was not given opportunity to present his version

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notice to the secretary school education in a contempt petition filed by a teacher seeking restoration of his job.
Petitioner Shaukat Raoof had filed a petition through his lawyer who implored the court that one of the colleagues of his client had accused him (the petitioner) of being an Ahmadi upon which the education department sacked him without hearing his version.
The counsel said his client holds a PhD degree in Islamiat (Islamic Study) and has staunch faith on Khatam-e-Nabuwat (finality of prophethood) but even then he was fired. He further contended that his client was not heard during the departmental inquiry which is sheer violation of basic rights.
He contended that then he approached the court but despite the court’s instructions he was not heard which is tantamount to contempt of court. He prayed the court to pass directions to restore him to his position (as teacher) and take strict action against the secretary school education for committing contempt of court.
