ISLAMABAD:
The International Islamic University in Islamabad (IIUI) organised an Inter-University Chess Championship, where as many as 80 students of more than 10 universities
took part.
The championship was organised by the sports directorate and the students’ advisor office of the university, a statement released by the varsity said on Sunday.
Students from Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Bahria, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), University of Engineering Technology (UET) Taxila, Arid Agriculture, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), FAST and other universities showed their talent in the event.
The championship title was grabbed by Jahanzaib of Pir Mehr Ali Shah Agriculture University, while the second position was clinched by Musavir of Riphah International University.
The third position was claimed by Nabil of the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
IIUI Vice President Dr Naveed Malik hailed the talent of students as he distributed the trophies and prizes among the winners.
IIUI Students Advisor Dr Tariq Javed said that the university will keep arranging similar competitions in the future.
