Pakistan Railways: ‘20 locomotives to be added’
The Minister said that 106 passenger and 52 freight trains are running at the moment

Pakistan Railways would purchase 20 more locomotives from General Electric (GE) to enhance capacity of the fleet to meet the growing needs of the country.
“During the current tenure of the government as many as 145 locomotives of different horse powers have been added in the fleet,” Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique told the media on Thursday. The federal minister said that in 2013 only 160 locomotives were functional out of 465, with the number now increased to 324.
No company under Railways in loss: Saad Rafique
The Minister said that in 2012-13, only 92 passenger and 8 freight trains were running on the system while 106 passenger and 52 freight trains are running at the moment.
