Anti-polio drive: Over 0.6m children to be inoculated in Pindi

Health department will administer polio drops to more than 600,000 children in 5 day campaign.

District health department will administer polio drops to more than 600,000 children aged five years or less during its five-day anti-polio campaign starting from May 9 in Rawalpindi.


Rawalpindi DCO Saqib Zafar, while presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the anti-polio campaign, asked the concerned departments to be efficient while administering the drops. He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the polio teams and bring their children at the centres set up for vaccination. EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal and District Health Officer Dr Khalid Randhawa said that 1,660 teams will administer the polio drops to children at their doorsteps, while special centres will also be set up.

A total of 288 supervisors have been deployed in the entire district while arrangements have been made to administer anti-polio drops to children at public places such as the railways station, airport and bus stands.
