The Beauty Edit
We compiled a few tips and tricks you can use next time you’re applying that eyeliner
Eyeliner is one of the most integral parts of any make-up look. Whether you opt for an artistic cat eye, or the basic winged eyeliner, with the right products and a little practice you can create the perfect look. Using eyeliner is a subtle way to draw attention to your eyes, give the appearance of longer lashes and bring out your eye colour. So we compiled a few tips and tricks you can use next time you’re applying that eyeliner. Never let your winged liner make you late for an event again!
Picking the right product
The key is to know what you are working with as different eyeliners serve different purposes. For instance, if you want a smokey look, eyeliners like Clinique’s Quickliner and L’Oreal Paris’s Color Riche Le Smokey would work best as they are super blendable and come with a smudge tip as well. While opting for winged eyeliner or cat eyes, go for products that serve multiple purposes like Estee Lauder’s Little Black Liner or NYX’s Curve Eyeliner which makes it a little bit easier to avoid a CATastrophe (pun intended)!
If you want precise brush strokes try L’Oreal Paris’ Super Liner Perfect Slim which serves that purpose best.
Types of eyeliners
All our skins react differently to make-up products. While something works great for a friend, it may not necessarily work for you. Be prepared to experiment with your products. From gel or creamy eyeliners to kohl pencils, to mechanical twist-up to felt-tip eyeliners, experiment with all of them until you find the right one for your skin.
TEdit picks
• Bobby Brown Longwear Eye Gel
• Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel
• MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner
• Maybelline New York Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil
• NYX Two Timer (actually a dupe for Tom Ford’s eye defining pen)
Glitter and coloured eyeliners
If you’re feeling daring or bold enough, then opt for the coloured eye make-up trend. For the festive season or for night time events, using a pop of colour can go a long way to enhance your look. Every eye colour has a shade that works best so make sure you find the right shade for yourself. If you’ve got brown or hazel eyes, hues of blue, green and gold will enhance your eye color. Blue eyes are better suited to brown and copper hues while shades of pink, purple and berry tones work best for green eyes.
