PESHAWAR:
For research activities to yield the desired results, the government needs to support these efforts.

This was stated by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Razia Sultana while addressing the concluding ceremony of the two-day-long national conference on emerging trends in computing, statistics and mathematical sciences at the varsity.

In this regard, she suggested a new funding equilibrium, proposing that 80 per cent of the funds provided by the higher education commission should be used for research-based activities. The varsity, though, would bear the burden of the remaining expenses through its own resources.

She added that if other supporting organisations, including the government, support them, they could arrange more research-related conferences.
