Junior staff being sent to court instead of officials in Hyderabad
'Inertia of the concerned government officials and their focal persons is to blame for this situation'
HYDERABAD:
The apathy of officials is making the provincial government lose court battles. "Inertia of the concerned government officials and their focal persons is to blame for this situation," lamented Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Qadir Junejo, who chaired on Wednesday a meeting of the District Litigation Committee in Hyderabad.
He noted that only junior or lower grade staff is sent to attend court proceedings in cases where presence of officials is required. The district attorney warned that his office will file written complaints to the provincial chief secretary against the officials who avoid litigation.
All the government departments were asked to submit a detailed list of cases being litigated by each of them and to assign a focal person for coordination with the attorney's office.
A total of 480 cases in different courts of law are currently being litigated by various departments of the Sindh government in Hyderabad.
