Many points in Noam Chomsky’s Requiem for American Dream apply to Pakistan. It is the people themselves who are to blame for the ills of a repressed society and supercilious governance. The common excuse for tolerating tyranny, misgovernance, or stark injustice is “we have a precarious living, no time for agitation.” Chomsky’s antidote for reforming the disordered world, equalising citizenry through increasing their participation and ending exploitation. His precariat and occupy movements are the remedy. The Occupy Theory by Michael Albert and Mandisi Majavu teaches how to hold peaceful protests and fight back state oppression through free legal aid at specified places. To my knowledge, there is no trace of this movement in Pakistan.
