KARACHI:
A leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and former Sindh minister for Excise and Taxation's house was burgled in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Wednesday.

Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, one of the members of MQM-P's Rabita Committee, was at home with his family when at least six armed dacoits barged into the residence located on Khayaban-e-Saadi.

Consequently, they held all family members hostage at gunpoint while collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth nearly of Rs0.6 million in the broad daylight.

The robbers, who covered their faces, managed to flee the scene unchallenged within 15 minutes.

According to police, the former minister has raised suspicion on his gardener for providing assistance to the robbers.

No case has been filed with the police yet.

Moreover, IGP Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from DIG South zone.
