Man gets life sentence in kidnapping case

Tariq, his accomplices had abducted Naeem and his housemaid in 2012

FAISALABAD: An Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) awarded life term on two counts to a convict for his involvement in kidnapping for ransom case in Faisalabad.

The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Muhammad Khalil Naz. The prosecution told the court that accused Tariq Javed and his accomplices had abducted Naeem Ahmed Khan and his housemaid on November 3, 2012.

The accused demanded Rs30 million as ransom for their release. However, after negotiations, they received Rs10 million ransom and released the abductees.

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down life sentence to Tariq on two counts under section 365-A of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 7 of Anti Terrorism Act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs0.1 million and ordered to forfeit entire property of the accused. The other five accused of the case have already been sentenced by the court.

To the gallows: Murder convict sentenced to death

Earlier, a court awarded life term to two convicts for their involvement in a murder case in Sargodha. The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Tariq Mehmood Jasra.

Convicts Imran and Ejaz had gunned down a rickshaw driver Muhammad Nadeem and his son Shahzeb over a robbery bid on January 25, 2014. The court also imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million as compensation money.
