LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawqaz (PML-N) leader and Member of National Assembly Hamza Shehbaz has said that a delay in the general elections would be harmful for democracy and political parties.

“Continuity in the policies is imperative [for the country’s progress] and any impediment in the democratic process would not be in the national interest,” said Hamza while talking to the media on Saturday at the residence of deceased MPA Chaudary Liaqat Ali Khan.

Answering a question, Hamza, the son of Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, said that deposed PM Nawaz Sharif presented himself before the trial court and justice should dispensed to him at all costs. He also hoped that the elder Sharif would be successful in the courts.

About the reported differences between the Sharif brothers, he said the PML-N was fully united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

Hamza offered fateha for the departed soul of Chaudhry Liaqat and acknowledged his services for the party and the country. Liaqat’s wife MNA Iffat Liaqat and sons Haider Sultan and Shehryar Sultan were also present.
