In an apparent reference to alleged political engineering by the country's establishment, Maryam Nawaz has said that “not everyone is Nawaz Sharif who refrains from unmasking the institutions despite repeatedly receiving wounds [at their hand].”

The daughter of the deposed prime minister took to the microblogging site Twitter on Saturday to vent her anger hours after PSP chief Mustafa Kamal claimed that his party's short-lived alliance with the MQM-Pakistan was brokered by the establishment.

She said her father's patience was for the sake of Pakistan’s security, protection and integrity, and urged his naysayers not to put him to test by linking his fortitude to weakness.

Maryam went on to say that her father will break his silence if his rivals use it to damage the country's interests.

Earlier in the day, Mustfa Kamal claimed that it was the establishment which had helped the alliance take place between the MQM-P and his party. He went on to claim that the MQM-P itself was created in the room of [then Pakistan Rangers Sindh DG] Major General Bilal Akbar.

Reacting to the statement, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said the establishment should stop meddling in politics and a judicial commission should be formed to investigate the real story behind the brief alliance between the MQM-P and PSP.
