Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Faisal Subzwari has blamed Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal for letting the opportunity of forging a political alliance between the two parties go to waste.

Speaking to reporters in Karachi on Saturday, the MQM-P leader said his party was still ready for the alliance and would continue its reconciliation efforts for the greater interest and progress of Sindh, Express News reported.

“However, the MQM-P has neither merged with another party, nor will it do so in the future," he added. "We'll never strip ourselves of our identity for Mustafa Kamal’s sake."

Flanked by other MQM-P leaders, Subzwari said the MQM-P had staged its November 5 rally in Liaquatabad to express its reservations over the results of the latest census and the enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of party activists.

Establishment helped MQM-P, PSP alliance take place, says Mustafa Kamal

“At that rally, we decided that all political parties will be taken into confidence for the prosperity of Karachi and the process started with consultations with the PSP. However, PSP chief Mustafa Kamal has missed a golden opportunity,” he added.

Subzwari said Kamal had hurled baseless allegations against MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar and other party leaders. "We will respond to all these allegations one at a time," he added.

Earlier in the day, Kamal said at a press conference that it was the establishment which helped the short-lived alliance take place between MQM-P and his party.

He also showed a paper claiming the document revealed that Subzwari had leaked information about the PSP's meeting with Sattar before the alliance.

Responding to the allegation, Subzwari challenged Kamal to prove it publicly and also offered that his cell phone data be checked for this purpose.

Motherly persuasion keeps MQM-P intact

“Their clumsy allegations haven't harmed us. In fact, they have brought our disgruntled leaders and activists closer to us,” he remarked.

“We all know Mustafa Kamal’s Dubai trip wasn’t personal. He went there to meet a wanted person who is facing several charges. However, we don’t want to hurl any allegations as many PSP leaders are still in touch with us,” Subzwari said without naming anyone.
