The Kenyan actor took to Instagram to make clarifications and posted an image of the magazine cover alongside the original photo, which proved that some of her hair had been removed and the rest had been smoothed out.

In her Instagram post, Lupita mentioned, "I am disappointed that Grazia UK invited me to be on their cover and then edited out and smoothed my hair to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like. Had I been consulted, I would have explained that I cannot support or condone the omission of what is my native heritage with the intention that they appreciate that there is still a very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women's complexion, hair style and texture."

Kajol slammed 'impossible beauty standards' and we can't get enough of it!

The magazine apologised for the airbrushing the 12 Years a Slave star but blamed the photographer for the alterations.

Earlier last month, Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles threw shade at the British publication Evening Standard (ES) for removing her braids from the magazine cover.

ES later made a public apology on their official website, stating, "We were delighted to have the chance to interview the wonderful Solange Knowles and photograph her for ES magazine. It is therefore a matter of great regret that the finished artwork of the magazine caused concern and offence."

"The decision to amend the photograph was taken for layout purposes but plainly, we made the wrong call and we have offered our unreserved apologies to Solange."
