HYDERABAD:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Maula Bux Chandio has said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - Pakistan's leader Dr Farooq Sattar appeared to be treading the path of ethnic racism.
Commenting on the meeting between MQM-Pakistan and Pak Sarzameen Party on Thursday, Chandio said the two parties always had a common objective. "They have the right to identify as a Sindhi or a Muhajir," he said.
However, Chandio reiterated the PPP's stance that the party will never allow separation of Karachi from Sindh. He argued that the Urdu speaking community could not be served by dividing Sindh on ethnic basis.
Bring back our people, demands Maula Bux Chandio
He said Sattar appeared to be worried, referring to the recent wave of defections from the party, including that of Karachi’s Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra.
Commenting on MQM-Pakistan's MNA Khushbakht Shujaat's meeting with PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, Chandio said such meetings are not held without a purpose. He claimed that a large number of Muttahida's former leaders have quit and that process continued.
