Court fines two poachers for selling crocodile meat

Officials said around 50 kilogrammes of tortoise meat which was also seized

MULTAN: A court imposed fine and punishment on two poachers, who were taken into custody for illegally selling crocodile meat in Sarai Sidhu, Kabirwala Sub-District.

An official told The Express Tribune that a team of wildlife department arrested two poachers identified as Muhammad Akram and Mazhar from Shujabad area for selling crocodile meat illegally.

The accused were handed over to the police, which registered a case against them.  Later, the culprits were produced in the court.

The judge imposed a penalty of Rs10,000 each on the accused and gave fixed time for punishment.

Earlier on October 23, two poachers were taken into custody for illegally selling tortoise meat to Chinese nationals in Khanewal. The poachers were arrested while shooting tortoises in the Saraya Sidhoo area.

Officials said they were in possession of around 50 kilogrammes of tortoise meat which was also seized.
