HARIPUR:
It took an exhumation to put the murder trial of Abid Hakim Dad on the right track.
Dad’s heirs were running from pillar to post get an FIR registered against six people who had gunned him down in Khanpur. However, they claimed, the police and the medico-legal official, Dr Tahir, had been bribed to change the facts. As per medical certificate, Dad was not murdered.
Finally, the sessions court took up the application of the victim’s heirs and ordered a fresh autopsy. On court orders, Dad’s remains were exhumed and rechecked proving the earlier report false and confirming he had been shot dead.
