Words Of Moin: Moin Akhtar

Excerpts from the interview Moin Akhtar gave to The Express Tribune.

In his interview with The Express Tribune, Moin Akhtar shared his views on comedy, autobiography, roles and more.

Comedy

Comedy had phases in this country. I think it was 1950s when comedy started off in the sub-continent; today it has become intelligent. A few years ago it was creepy and obscenity took over.

Classics

Anything which clicks is a classic. But any classic that doesn’t rise is a flop. I was witty and that clicked.

Entertainment

We are eliminating our own culture by copying Indian style of performances. If this thing goes on and is carried away way, tomorrow there will be no celebrities in our society. We need to segment Indian programming so that we (can) continue to promote and project our own artists.

His work

Everything I did is part of history, now. To live with history is difficult, but there will be people, who will say one day: ‘there was a man who did it and did it so differently’.
