Multan gets motorcycle ambulance service

More than 100 two-wheeler ambulances will run in city.

MULTAN: Punjab government has launched the motorcycle ambulance service in Multan. Under the project, more than 100 motorcycle ambulances will be running throughout the city.

These motorcycle ambulances are equipped with foldable stretcher, trauma kits, burn kits, automatic external defibrillators, portable oxygen, pulse odometer and glucose meter.

Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Malik Nadeem Kamran inaugurated the service. Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer and Mayor Naveedul Haq Araein were also present.

While speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “Serving humanity is a noble cause and Rescue 1122 is working with devotion and dedication to help people.”



He said the service would provide better medical facilities to people, especially those living in congested areas.

“It is a good addition among other facilities being provided to people in the city,” Kamran added.

He said the provincial government had also provided CT Scan machines to all District Headquarter Hospitals across the province.

Earlier in October 2017, the motorcycle ambulance service was inaugurated in Lahore by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The CM said this was the first-of-its-kind motorcycle ambulance service introduced in South Asia.

He added that in case of emergency, the motorcycle ambulance service would provide immediate rescue and first-aid in congested localities and narrow passageway.



Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said for patients in critical conditions, these emergency medical technicians on motorcycle ambulances will carry the patient out on a stretcher to the point accessible for ambulances.

He added the scope of Rescue 1122 would be extended to all the tehsils by the end of this year.
