A top official of the premier tourism agency in the country has hinted that visa regulations for tourists, especially religious travellers heading to historical sites in Pakistan, could be relaxed.
Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor met with Sikh pilgrims, who had arrived from all over the world to celebrate Nankana Sahib’s 549th birthday.
The meeting discussed issues related to pilgrims travelling to Pakistan and the facilities available.
Sikh pilgrims told Ghafoor that they faced tremendous difficulty and delays in acquiring visas from India and other countries such as Canada, Europe and Thailand to visit Pakistan, as a result of which thousands of Sikh pilgrims could not travel to mark the celebrations.
