Symposium on molecular medicine to start tomorrow

KARACHI:
The sixth international symposium-cum-training course on molecular medicine and drug research (MMDR) will start tomorrow (Monday) at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences at University of Karachi (KU).

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairperson Dr Mukhtar Ahmed will inaugurate the event organised by Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research. Around 100 scientists from 30 countries and 500 scholars from Pakistan are expected to attend the international science event.

ICCBS Director Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry said that the international conference aims to extend understanding and appreciation of the emerging molecular medicine field in Pakistan. “One of the prime objectives of this symposium is to bring together leading experts in the field of molecular medicine from all around the world,” he maintained.


Lessons from the glorious scientific past

Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Hussain Syed, KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan and former federal minister of science and technology and former HEC chairperson Professor Dr Attaur-Rahman will also address the ceremony.

"The symposium will include lectures by eminent scientists and presentations by young scholars from 30 countries around the world,” said Dr Chaudhry. “The training sessions will focus on developing concepts of molecular medicines and its applications in understanding diseases at molecular levels. The sessions will be conducted by international experts," he added.
