RAWALPINDI: Traffic jam in Saddar is causing a lot of trouble for visitors, traders and the residents.

Traders' Association Adamjee Road (TAAR) has demanded from the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) authorities to construct a multi-storey parking lot in Saddar.

TAAR President Asim Mehmood Malik said RCB has allocated parking lots on Kashmir Road but it should construct a multi-storey parking plaza in Saddar to resolve the problem of parking in the area's commercial hub.

“Adamjee Road is plagued with gangs of beggars, broken sewerage system, dilapidated roads, encroachments and all are adding up to traffic jams,” he said.

Old and dilapidated buildings in the area have become security risk which is a lurking danger that could cause a great loss. TAAR president also demanded improvement in Rescue 1122 and Fire Brigade services.

He said issue of water shortage was resolved by the association on its own and a bore has been drilled to meet the needs. There are no public toilets on the road which is an essential requirement of all.

He urged the traffic police to depute wardens at Hathi Chowk to deal with congested traffic during peak hours.
