ISLAMABAD:
The apex accountability bureau will not bury ongoing investigations and inquiries into mega corruption cases in files, rather they will conduct probes based on merit and evidence.

This was stated by NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal while speaking to USAID Inspector General Ann Calvaresi Barr on Tuesday. The USAID delegation was visiting the NAB headquarters.

According to a readout of the meeting, it was held in a cordial atmosphere in which matters of mutual interest, including the assistance of NAB in the Rafi Peer Theater case, were discussed.  Barr thanked NAB for prompt assistance and cooperation in the case.  Justice Iqbal sought USAID assistance for further improving the capacity of the apex anti-corruption watchdog’s investigation officers and prosecutors on modern lines.

NAB’s investigators and prosecutors are being trained with assistance from UNODC, UK’s National Crime Agency and the Australian Federal Police.
