Khatm-e-Nabuwat: Protesters keep Jinnah Avenue shut

ISLAMABAD: Despite their dwindling numbers, supporters of a religious group have kept Jinnah Avenue closed for a week now by staging a sit-in near D-Chowk.

Meanwhile, the authorities hope to exhaust the protesters’ patience instead of forcing them to wrap up their camp.

The Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasoolallah (TLYR), led by Lahore-based cleric Asif Jalali, have been sitting on Jinnah Avenue to protest on the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwat or the belief in the finality of the Prophethood (PBUH).

Among other things, they demand that the government identify and punish whoever was responsible for the recent brief change of wording in the Khatm-e-Nabuwat declaration.
