Former champion Mark Williams is on the verge of securing a place in the World Championship quarter-finals after opening up a 12-4 lead over Jamie Cope.
The two-time champion has reached the quarter-finals only once since landing his second Crucible title in 2003 and he is on course to repeat that 2006 appearance in the last eight. Williams recorded breaks of 106 and 109 in back-to-back frames to lead 12-2.
