Seven held for ‘assaulting teenage girl’ in D I Khan
Two suspects on the run, but DIG says they will be captured soon

The police on Monday arrested seven people for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl over a family dispute in a remote part of Dera Ismail Khan.
The seven tore the girl’s clothes, who was collecting water from a well, after which she sought refuge in the house of a local religious leader.
Deputy Inspector General Fida Hussain, when contacted, reported that both the parties registered cases with the police on the day of the assault. He believed that the first case had been pre-planned to divert the police’s attention, but the real culprits had been identified.
“We closely observed and investigated both the cases and came to the conclusion that the first case was fabricated. We then started working on the second complaint which has now turned out to be the true story,” Hussain told The Express Tribune on the telephone.

The incident reportedly occurred due to an enmity between two families developed three years ago when the victim’s brother fell in love with a girl from the family of her assailants.
“Feeling humiliated, they assaulted the victim by tearing her clothes off, in revenge,” a senior police official told The Express Tribune.
