Sana Bhatti, Ayra Events

It’s almost wedding season and we’re excited! This season, we are moving away from metallics and over the top florals! You will see team Ayra using ethnic elements in a modern way. We’re reviving our tradition with forgotten crafts and incorporating different styles of lighting, unique floral design and colour combinations and moving away from conventional wedding décor and themes. We have developed a few signature elements for personalised and thematic décor; including seating, flooring, ceiling and tablescape. We’ll also be introducing colour play into events, so stay tuned for more updates this wedding season!

Everything we do is customised according to the occasion and we thrive on challenges; that’s when we come up with our most creative and exciting work. We are geared up and excited about the upcoming season! We don’t want to disclose too much but we are doing some very exciting events. Some are luxurious and opulent whereas others are super fun and quirky! We look forward to working on some dynamic installations. Mood lighting is something that has always been one of our focal points and everyone knows my passion for flowers! We’ll be coming up with some creative, unique and signature designs. Stay tuned!

I believe an event should be a total transformation of the venue. From the ceiling to the carpet, we treat the place with a specific and detailed theme in mind. Trending this season are dramatic transformations of the ceiling. For example, we have recently done stunning hanging gardens with flowers. I also believe lighting plays a vital role in the decor of the event so we take special care of it. I am dreaming of doing a very dramatic event which is all candle lit. I think to make an event thoroughly memorable it’s important to incorporate striking elements of design. In our recent events we used eye catching features such as water bodies, flamingos made with delicate rose petals, Roman statues and magical unicorns with floral wings. Photo booths are another hot trend at mehndis these days. Daytime weddings are my personal favourite and we at Whimsical are super excited about the day events coming up this December. It looks magical to have a white wedding with lots of crystal. You can’t go wrong with an all-white look!

This season will be more about what we have on the floor rather than just hangings - from adding oomph to the ambience with massive floral centre pieces to introducing our “centre of attention” stages that would give a 360 degree view of the entire event. Our approach for this season would be “think outside the box” as we plan to slowly drift away from the same monotonous traditional layout. This season we will be more inclined towards the entire grandeur of the event rather than just focusing on the walk way. Baby’s breath would be our flower of the season - from using it on head tables to using them in different areas of the venue. Mirrors, frames, enormous vases, candle jars, frame work and lots of changes in terms of colours, layout and aesthetics will be used to make your special day even more memorable.

There has to be a rebirth of sophistication in event design and ideation. Whether you are recreating a style from historical reference or delving into contemporary design, you need to have the knowledge to do it successfully. With so many options available, what is missing is truly elevated and sophisticated experiences at weddings. I see this because I’m the only company that works locally and internationally with offices within and outside Pakistan. I love creating spaces where people are transported to another world, yet when you observe the event closely, they really should be well finished. Also, people are moving towards creating more interesting experiences at events, a typical mehndi or valima should not be “typical” any more. Other than décor more things need to be added such as the sound design, creative performances, themes that stand out, interesting invitations, interactive rasams etc. This is the age of The New Pakistani Wedding and my company aims to be at the helm of defining it!

Nadia and Saher Sheikh, W.Inc Events

Our style is contemporary, infused with traditional elements. We focus on providing bespoke weddings, giving a feel of grandeur while incorporating modern trends into our décor. This season we will be playing around with mirrors and reflective materials to make our events stand out. Rustic garden weddings are all the rage this wedding season. Delicately placed rustic twigs, hints of floral décor and an overload of candles and dramatic lighting will set just the right mood for any winter wedding.
