Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has witnessed the Pakistan Motor Rally 2017 in South Waziristan Agency (SWA), a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
The army chief has appreciated the spirit of all participants and organisers for promoting peaceful and soft image of the country.
The rally, started on October 21 from Khunjerab and organised by the Pakistan Army, reached SWA on Thursday on completion of its second segment.
Accompanied by Khyber-Pakthunkhwa (K-P) Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Gen Qamar also distributed prizes to the best racers of the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, the COAS said holding of such events in areas once affected by terrorism speak for results of the national sacrifices and efforts to bring back peace and normalcy. “Such like events will promote adventure sports, showcase tourism potential and cultural heritage of the country,” he was quoted by the military's media wing as saying.
