Punjab ready to establish rescue ambulance college
Project will follow guidelines of National Ambulance Service College in Ireland

A delegation from Ireland visited the Emergency Services Academy at Thokar Niaz Beg on Thursday to establish the Rescue Ambulance Service College. The institute will be in line with the standards of National Ambulance Service College of Ireland.
The delegation was led by Professor Gerard Bury from University College Dublin, Ireland and Dr Khurram Shahzad from Institute of Learning Emergency Medicine of University of Health Sciences (ILEM-UHS).

Prof Bury inspected the academic facilities available at the proposed Rescue Ambulance Service College during his visit. The delegation appreciated the presence of professional quality instruments in the Emergency Services Academy and expressed satisfaction that the environment and available resources shall support the teaching of professional courses of pre-hospital emergency care. The Irish delegation also discussed the training programmes which would be taught in the Rescue Ambulance Service College.
While briefing the delegation, Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said in order to ensure training of rescuers in accordance with international guidelines, there was a need to collaborate with the National Ambulance Service College in Ireland. “The establishment of the Rescue Ambulance Service College and collaboration with National Ambulance Service College, Ireland shall greatly help standardisation of pre-hospital emergency care guidelines,” he said.
