Turks to train vocational teachers

Courses offered include hospitality, metallurgy

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that Pak-Turk relations were exemplary as both countries never left each other in hard times.

He was talking to a delegation of Turk teachers and Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) officials on Wednesday. The delegation also included Technical Education Ministry of Education Turkey Head Shennur, TIKA Pakistan Desk Expert Oya Tutuncu, Country Coordinator Pakistan Mehmet Emre Aktuna, TIKA Islamabad Deputy Coordinator Ibrahim Katirci and 22 master trainers from Turkey who were teaching technical and vocational education.

Sheikh said Turkey had supported Pakistan in the technical and vocational training sector. He added that country had set up a state-of-the-art denim manufacturing unit at the Government College for Emerging Technologies, Township, Lahore and a Center of Excellence which was providing training in different courses.


The TEVTA chairman said that these master trainers from Turkey will provide a six-week course to teachers in different districts including Lahore, Kasur and Gujrat. “This training would benefit our teachers who would train students as per international standards,” he added.

Sheikh said that this training will be offered in the fields of hospitality, beautician, metallurgy and civil sector. However, these master trainers would be providing training free of cost to our teachers. This was a live example of Pak-Turk friendship, he added.

He said that TIKA and TEVTA were working on setting up state of the art institution of hospitality. “We want to benefit from Turkish technical expertise for our students as this would be valuable for them,” he added.
