‘Feudal lords cannot serve Sindh’
STP rules out possibility of joining Pir Pagara’s Grand Democratic Alliance
HYDERABAD:
The Sindh Taraqi Pasand (STP) party chairperson, Dr Qadir Magsi, has repudiated the political significance of the grand democratic alliance recently announced by Pakistan Muslim League - Functional leader Pir Pagara Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi. Speaking to the media in Tando Muhammad Khan district on Tuesday, Magsi argued that the coalition comprised the same feudal lords who were part of the previous governments.
"In General (retd) Pervez Musharraf's regime [MPA] Arbab Ghulam Rahim [former Sindh chief minister] had given the whole of Sindh to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement as a gift," he accused. He claimed that the feudal lords who are part of the alliance did not serve the people of Sindh when they were in power.
PPP rivals to formally register Grand Democratic Alliance
"We can never join any alliance formed by feudal lords," he declared. The STP chairperson urged the people to only vote for the interests of the province and warned that Sindh will continue moving on the path of destruction if the people kept on voting for feudal lords.
He lamented that the province remained undeveloped and a majority of its people poor even though Sindh is rich in oil, gas, coal and other natural resources. Magsi said the STP will contest the 2018 general elections independently, ruling out options of entering into any alliances.
