New VC of UoP seeks faculty’s cooperation
Prof Asif Khan has urged teachers to join hands for the varsity’s uplift
PESHAWAR:
University of Peshawar’s (UoP) new Vice Chancellor Prof Asif Khan has urged teachers to join hands for the varsity’s uplift.
He asked the faculty to play their constructive role and help bring the institution out of financial crisis.
“I am a man of merit and innovative ideas; share whatever you consider may help us, help me in efforts to make this alma mater rise again to the glories it once enjoyed in the education community,” he shared this views while addressing to Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) Hall on Saturday.
He further assured to hold selection boards pending since April 2015 and approve demands of new advertisement for long awaited promotion of young PhD and senior faculty members.
“PUTA members suffered due to the interim phase of a pro-vice chancellor who could not manage a single selection board, instead stopped illegally the salaries of 30 TTS faculty members and denied renewal of contracts of lecturers and assistant professors,” shared PUTA President Jamil Ahmad Chitrali.
He said that PUTA demanded immediate implementation of the letter issued from Governor’s secretariat as Chancellor, wherein, the illegal perk and privileges are directed immediately to be withdrawn.
President informed that the pro-vice chancellor till date enjoys a special office, guards at home, a Gardner and two drivers beside other privileges.
