Suspect was involved in attacks on security forces in Swat, claims official

KARACHI: Sindh’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have arrested on Wednesday three suspects, including a hardcore militant belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Swat chapter. According to officials, the suspect, identified as Shoaib Rafiq, was arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in MPR Colony in Orangi Town, adding that he was a hardcore militant.

CTD incharge Ahmed Sheikh claimed that the suspect had been involved in various attacks on security forces in Swat and went underground in Karachi. Cases have been registered against him while further investigations are under way.

They also claimed to have arrested another suspect, identified as Waleed Hussain, during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Korangi. According to an official, the suspect was involved in various cases of targeted killing. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects’ possession, claimed CTD.

In another raid, they claimed to have arrested a suspect, Zohaib alias Golden, who had been involved in various attacks on law enforcement agencies in Lyari. Cases have been registered against him while further investigations are under way.
