LAHORE: Investigators probing the illegal kidney scam in Pir Mahal, Toba Tek Singh revealed that the suspects were running the business for the last three years.

FIA arrests three men for illegal kidney transplants

They had transplanted the kidneys to over 18 foreigners. The investigations disclosed the recipient of the kidneys were from Middle East and Europe, while the suspects would charge Rs1.5 million to Rs2 million for each transplantation.

An investigator, requesting anonymity, told The Express Tribune the donor of the illegal transplant who was taken into custody during the raid was admitted to Allied Hospital in Faisalabad for treatment, while the recipient, who was a Saudi National, was under treatment in a hospital in Islamabad. He added the accused had been arrested and were in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency.

The FIA officials registered an FIR against the accused on October 13 and were investigating the matter.
