Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb responded to the speech Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan made at his workers’ convention.

Marriyum said that Khan’s antics are destroying the image of politics and that he was an enemy of development. She added that his lust for power makes him a great threat to the country.

She further said in a statement issued on Sunday that his attitude was also a threat to state institutions, that he regularly insults and attacks.

Marriyum went on to say that the people he was referring to were following rightful procedures and are appearing in court, despite the charges against them being false.

She also said that the entire nation knows who is not willing to be accountable, is a proclaimed offender and an absconder from the courts. She went on to say that the people of Pakistan knew what he was all about, while rhetorically asking who he was trying to fool.

The minister said that Khan will never succeed in his objectives and that it was only due to ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif that it was the efforts of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that had elevated Pakistan to its current prestige in the international community.

She added that Khan should take the constitutional path and wait for the elections in 2018. APP
