NA-4 by-polls: ECP to use cell phone to transmit results
Under the pilot project, presiding officer will send the result of respective polling station to the returning officer
ISLAMABAD:
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to use mobile phones for transmission of results of NA-4 Peshawar by-election from polling stations to the returning officer. According to an official of ECP, under this pilot project, presiding officer will send the result of respective polling station to the returning officer through use of this new technology, which is more efficient and fast. He said that the result could be sent directly to the computer system of the returning officer by taking picture of the result and further, the ECP could receive the results of polling stations in more quickly this way. Earlier, the ECP had introduced this project in Karachi PS-114 by-election held on July 2017, which remained successful. He said that the commission would arrange a training session for presiding officers next week in Peshawar for proper use of this system.
