Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
How would you describe your body type?
I would say I have an athletic body type.
Has your body type changed over the last five years?
I am a bit of a self-proclaimed gym buff, so I do work on my body seasonally trying to bulk up in the winter and lean out in the summer, but as a whole I have maintained the same body type over the last five years.
How has your style changed over the years?
From a young age I’ve always been into fashion, and I’ve experimented a lot with all the fashions and trends that have been out there for men. From preppy polo shirts to cargo pants, the list of my fashion faux pas goes on. But over the years, I have become more confident in my skin and I am inclined towards men’s street wear.
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?
My problem area would probably be my legs. No matter how hard I try to put on some size on my legs, it doesn’t happen. The struggle is REAL.
How do you dress your body according to your body type?
I like to wear tapered fits for formal wear, be it suits, trousers or button downs shirts. For casual and street wear, I usually go with slightly oversized fits paired with skinny/stacked jeans or jogger pants.
In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?
I think one of the biggest style mistakes would be when people wear clothes that don’t fit them. What looks good on others might not look good on you, so try to figure out your own style. People should stop copying trends or whatever is “in” these days. Take note and get inspired, but give every look your own personal touch!
My favourite go to outfit/my favourite thing to put together in five minutes?
A simple, all-black outfit. You can never look over- or underdressed with it. Another go to for me would be a pair of stacked jeans, an oversized tee, my sand coloured Chelsea boots or clean white sneakers... getcha lookin like a million bucks!
What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?
As the saying goes to ‘each his own’, but for me I would say jewellery on men and those big brand heavy belt buckles; accessories are important and details matter, but not too much. Less is more!
