Opposition leader Khursheed Shah advised Imran Khan on Thursday to appear before Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) before police arrest him.

“You [Imran Khan] still have time, therefore, I will advise you to appear before the ECP yourself before you are taken there by a policeman,” he said while addressing the media in Islamabad.

The electoral body on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for October 26 against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran in a contempt case. The warrants have been issued for the said date to ensure presence of the PTI chairman before the ECP on the next hearing.

Shah further said that Imran should respect the institutions and appear before the ECP to prove that.

On Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar comments regarding Ahmadi believers, Shah went on to say that people should not show off by raising such issues.

“We have already settled the matter in parliament and no one should make a fuss out of it,” he said.

He said that Safdar’s remarks have opened new Pandora Box for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

On October 10, in an emotional speech, Safdar called for a ban on hiring Ahmadis in the armed forces and other important institutions of the country.
