FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) asked Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday to start at least one direct flight per week from Faisalabad to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

“Currently, our bilateral trade is about $15.12 billion per annum and we expect a phenomenal growth in coming years,” FCCI President Shabbir Hussain Chawla highlighted, adding a large number of businessmen visited China for trade purposes and currently most airlines were operating only from Lahore, which hampered the work of businesses in Faisalabad.

‘CPEC to bring prosperity to region’

The current demand from Faisalabad is around 500 passengers per week, which is enough for three independent flights. “The number of air travellers has further increased due to the Canton Fair scheduled to be held in the current month,” he added.
