Paramilitary force's powers extended for 90 days
The powers were to expire on October 13

The Sindh government extended on Wednesday the special powers of the Rangers in Karachi for 90 days, which are to expire on October 13. This is the first time, the provincial government has extended the powers without involving in any controversy or argument with the Centre.
Officials in the home department told The Express Tribune that a summary for the extension of the Rangers' powers was sent to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah a few days ago and he signed it two days before the powers would have expired.

It has been reported that the Sindh government and paramilitary force have developed a working relationship, which can be gauged from the security arrangements in the province during Eidul Azha and Muharram.
Commenting on the development, Home Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez said the provincial government will now write to the federal interior minister who will issue the notification regarding extension of the Rangers' powers on the basis of the summary approved by the CM.
