Punjab abolishes 427 offices, creates 334

District coordination office downgraded in some districts.

As many as 427 offices including 36 each of executive district officer (Revenue) and district officer (Revenue) and 135 of deputy district officer (Revenue) have been abolished across the province, a handout issued on Monday says.


It says that in place of the abolished offices, 334 offices of additional commissioners, additional collectors, assistant commissioners, collectors and registrar have been created in the province.

Also, the office of district coordination officer in Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and Gujranwala, has been downgraded from BPS-21 to BPS-20.


After the notification takes effect on April 20, 2011, the Board of Revenue will look after all matters related to revenue in the province. The Local Government Ordinance has already been amended for the purpose.

The abolished offices include 36 posts each of EDO (Literacy), EDO (Law) and EDO (Information Technology) and deputy district officer (General) and 10 offices of deputy district officer (Colonies) – one each in Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Jhang, Pakpattan, Bhakkar, Khushab and Chiniot); 14 of deputy district officer (Consolidation) – one each in Lahore, Kasur, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Attock, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Sahiwal and Jhang; and 52 of deputy district officer (Registration) – six in Lahore, two each in Sheikhupura, Ferozwala, Sialkot and Bahawalpur, three each in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad and one each in Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Jhang, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Lodharan, Vehari, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

An office each of additional commissioner (Revenue) and one of additional commissioner (Consolidation) has been created in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Dera Ghazi Khan.

Thirty six offices of additional collector (one for each district), 135 of assistant commissioners (one for each sub-division), 36 of collector (one for each district), 36 of general assistant (Revenue) and 10 of colony assistants (in the office of the collector of the district concerned), 14 of collector consolidation and 52 of sub-registrar have also been created.
