LAHORE:
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Sirajul Haq has said that his party does not want elections to be held early as this will favour the current rulers and they will get the chance to become political martyrs.

He said that it may be a demand made by one political party but not all parties are supporting it. Furthermore, he said that the federal and provincial governments should be allowed to complete their respective tenures lest they say they would have developed the country to international standards if they were not removed.

Addressing JI members in Mansoora, Lahore and talking to the media in Okara, he demanded that just like the case of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, clause 203 should also be withdrawn. He urged the government to not only fire the offending officials but also officially announce a detachment from the culprits.

He went on to criticise former Afghan president Hamid Karzai. Dismissing his latest statement, Siraj said that it should not be taken seriously and it should be remembered that Hamid Karzai played an important role in damaging the relationship between Pakistan and the United States of America, during his tenure.

He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N’s government was extremely fortunate to have an opposition that could not unite for even a single day. While adding that the only party allowed to nominate someone as an opposition leader is the one with a majority in the house.
