Fire destroys slum in Shera Kot
Fire was caused by cylinder exploding in a tent
LAHORE:
A slum was burnt to ashes in an incident of fire in Shera Kot on Saturday.
The slum was situated near Band Road, comprised of 10-12 tents with over 50 people living there. On Saturday morning, when the male members of the community had gone for work, a cylinder exploded in a tent. Nearby people called Edhi Foundation. The teams reached the spot on information and started the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, teams of Rescue 1122 and Fire Brigade reached the spot and started extinguishing the blaze. However, all the tents and valuables in it were burnt to ashes. Residents of the tents expressed their grievances that they were poor and their earnings of life had been gutted. They requested the government for help.
