Pakistan’s participation in Indian event confirmed

Funding, visa issues for cueists cleared, says official.

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has confirmed the participation of Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Shahid and Imran Shehzad in the IBSF Asian Snooker Championship starting from April 23 in Indore, India.

Pakistan’s participation in the event was put under a cloud due to visa issues and the unavailability of funds. However, PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh confirmed that the team will leave for the championship tomorrow as Indian visas will be issued to the cueists today.

“It was an intense week and we thought that we would have to pull out of the tournament but things worked out at the last moment,” Sheikh told The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, Sajjad, who will work towards maintaining his number two ranking in Asia, said he got a lot of confidence and practice from the tour of Iran earlier this month.
