Islamabad teams win on opening day
YRS, Margala FC cruise in women’s football event.

The Islamabad teams opened their campaign in the National Women’s Club Championship group C matches with impressive wins.
Defending champions Young Rising Stars (YRS) crushed Sargodha University 9-0 while Margala FC thrashed Hazara Shaeen FC 10-0.Malaika Noor opened the scoring against Sargodha University in the 21st minute and added three more in the 34th, 64th and 70th minutes. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s national team captain Sana Mehmood along with Nabila Hashmi, Sahar Zaman, Asmara Habib and Zara Iqbal scored a goal each.
“It’s a good start but this win is not a big feature as they are a new team,” YRS coach Ghiasuddin Baloch told The Express Tribune. “Our toughest competitor will be Margala.”
Meanwhile, Mejzgaan Orakzai, Muneeza and Asma contributed to Margala FC’s victory against Hazara Shaheen with a brace each.
Meanwhile, Peshawar FC won their group D match by defeating Striker FC 2-0. Peshawar have now joined Frontier College in the second round.
