Murder accused drowns in canal

Rescue teams recovered the body of the accused from the canal and shifted it to a hospital

A murder accused drowned in a canal while he was being taken to a court to seek his physical remand in Sargodha on Friday.

The incident occurred in Phularwan police precincts. The police said that abduction-cum-murder accused Lutfur Rehman, a resident of Rattu Kala, jumped into the Lower Jhelum Canal when the police van was crossing the bridge. Later, rescue teams recovered the body of the accused from the canal and shifted it to the hospital for legal formalities.

The police said that Lutfur Rehman had allegedly abducted a student, Muhammad Waqas, for ransom on September 4, 2017. Later, the accused murdered him for not receiving the ransom money. Meanwhile, a man was killed by rivals over litigation in Mianwali police limits.


The police said that Muhammad Nazir, a resident of Belowala, had enmity with Muhammad Ramzan over litigation of a murder case. On the day of the incident, accused Ramzan and Muhammad Mushtaq gunned down Nazir when he was grazing animals in the fields.

Man drowns in canal

In another incident, a man committed suicide over financial crisis. The police said Muhammad Qasim, a resident of Rehmanpura, committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan as he was facing financial crisis.
