KARACHI:
Actor Komal Aziz has accused her landlord in Karachi of torture and mistreatment.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Aziz alleged that she along with her family was mistreated by Jahanzaib Shahani when they informed him of leaving the apartment in Florida Homes, DHA.

"Shahani was a defaulter and owed dues to Cantonment Board Clifton so we opted to leave the flat, demanding our deposit," she said. "But he threatened us of dire consequences instead."

Komal added that Shahani had disconnected water and power supplies of the apartment. "When we protested, he tortured us. I went to area police station and lodged complaint against him," she claimed.

The landlord, meanwhile, denies the allegations. "There are around 450 flats in the building and everyone knows that the family is a defaulter, and did not pay rent for the last few months," Shahani told The Express Tribune.

He claimed that the actor's cheque of Rs60,000 had bounced, a copy of which was available with him. "Punish me if I am involved in torture," he said.

The actress, Shahani's secretary added, was "staging a drama".

"No one has threatened her," he said. "They were unwilling to pay rent on time so we asked them to leave the apartment," the secretary claimed, adding that tenants made "hue and cry" when served with notice.

Meanwhile, SSP South Javed Riaz said he was not aware of the case but would look into the matter.
