PESHAWAR: A new party backed by Hafiz Saeed on Wednesday formally entered the NA-4 by-election campaign and inaugurated its office in Peshawar.

The by-election on NA-4 (Peshawar-IV) constituency is scheduled to be held on October 26. The seat had fallen vacant due to the death of PTI’s National Assembly member Gulzar Khan.

Within no time, the Milli Muslim League (MML), which has yet to register with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), announced its support to an independent candidate.

The MML office located on Kohat Road was attended by the President Prof Saifullah Khalid, independent candidate Alhaj Liaqat Ali Khan, Dr Abdul Hakim and others. Khalid told the media that the election was between the forces of evil and good; Pakistan and the US; and Pakistan and Modi’s India. “The MML will stand by the forces of good.”

Meanwhile, the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has also fielded its candidate in the NA-4 by-election race and established an office for this purpose.

Muhammad Shafiq Amini hails from Charsadda.

A local ANP supporter, Faiz Muhammad, told The Express Tribune in Masho Khel village that the party had opened its office and added two villages of Hazar Khwani were supporting the candidate.

The TLP was found in 2015 in Karachi, as per the official website of the party and its first meeting was attended by 75 people.
